All of Us Student Ambassador Program

What is the All of Us Student Ambassador Program?

The All of Us Research Program is an ambitious effort to accelerate research and improve health outcomes by gathering data from one million or more people living in the United States. The program is creating a diverse dataset that medical researchers can use to make discoveries that help personalize medical treatment. All of Us is focused on enrolling one million or more participants from communities all over the country, specifically focused on communities that are historically underrepresented in medical research. Waco AHEC is a community engagement partner for the All of Us Research Program. Through our partnership with All of Us, we host events and educate our community about the program. Our goal is to increase participation among the community and ensure that Central Texas is represented.

The All of Us research program is focused on recruiting young adults ages 18-24 to participate in the program. Texas AHEC East – Waco Region’s student ambassador program is an opportunity for college undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level students to promote the All of Us research program on their college campus. The All of Us Research Program Student Ambassador will assist with Waco AHEC’s recruitment efforts at your university by hosting events, presenting in classes, tabling at fairs, and introducing faculty to the research program. The program is designed for students to receive hands-on training in health promotion, program planning, and program evaluation. Students will also learn more about grant writing and the structures of federal grant funding.

Goals of the All of Us Student Ambassador Program

The All of Us Student Ambassador Program has three goals:

  • Program Promotion and Engagement – Student Ambassadors are expected to share the program with students, researchers, and community members around their campuses. The ambassadors receive training in promoting the program and also receive talking points to answer questions from their community. Student ambassadors encourage participants to learn more about enrolling in the program.

  • Engaging Diverse Researchers – Ambassadors are intentional about promoting the program among researchers and students who are interested in participating in research. As a result, students will meet with college faculty members and researchers on campus who could actively benefit from utilizing the All of Us Researcher Workbench.

  • Promoting Partnerships – As All of Us Student Ambassadors, the students are expected to seek out collaborations and partnerships with student organizations, community organizations, and key faculty members who may be beneficial in Waco AHEC’s promotion of the program. Students will report on the program every month and discuss any collaborations they have included.
